How many people can you squeeze into a caravan?

Thu 29/12/2005 16:09 29122005(001) It's a real caravan, that Aunty Pat and Uncle Alf live in, while their house is rebuilt. For the record there's 12, no 15, maybe 400 people!

We claim the prize for first Rees/Player/André in their christmas pyjamas. This proves that Joni was fully ready in her Christmas PJ's, before 5:30 on Christmas Eve! And doesn't she look cute???

A Star Is Born

Joni's been a busy evangelist this week. Hot on the heels of her first up front appearance at church came a starring role in the most famous (and important) factual stories of all time. Yes she has taken on the role of the baby Jesus. I know it has a whole bunch of theological implications, but hey it's Christmas!

Yes Joni has appeared in the Eastenders' take on this famous story... True it's a Gladesmore production, based loosely around Eastenders, but it's a start!

Who knows what will be next???

Tue 06/12/2005 16:46 It's not a relevant pic , but you need a picture to blog! So I'm walking god from work and I come to two students. As I walk by I pick up a bit of their conversation, which goes like this...

"Nah, I seen 'em man, she wears white thongs. Fittest teacher eva!"

"You seen her thong? What's they look like, man?"

"Look, I videod it on my phone..."

It's a wonder we ever made it through puberty wi govt the ability to make our own mobile peep show! Just need to find those students now, they could probably teach up a thing or two about embracing new technology!

JCB Song

Stewwie's had it on his name for ages and I finally got to listen today. This song rules the world! It's a beautiful melody with excellent lyrics and it's sooooo emotive. If you're a child of the 80's (or perhaps a boy of the 80's?) then it'll make you remember everything that was fun and good about childhood, as well as some stuff that perhaps wasn't so good!

Basically buy it! Make it Christmas Number 1! It rules!

The Good, The Bad And The Cisco Lesson

Sometimes you start something and you haven’t prepared… and it shows!
Sometimes you start something and you have prepared… and that too shows!
Then, just occasionally you spend ages preparing and you look forward to that thing… and it’s still awful anyway!

Teaching teenagers can be a lot like this. For instance you spend an entire morning thinking through an alternative way of describing decimal, binary and hexadecimal number conversions. Then when you have thought it through and prepared a lesson it just doesn’t work out!!!!! Instead you start, they get confused, you fail to ease that confusion and it just goes downhill from there! Today’s lesson was a time just like that… Actually I think this blog post is going much the same way. I’m gonna go and program some computers, they agree with me all the time… and if they don’t I can just turn them off anyway!

Ghostbusters

It's true I loved the film then, but I love it even more now. I'm currently lounging on the sofa with the screen filling the wall. Ghostbusters got better! There was no dolby 5.1 when it was first around and I cerainly didn't see it in the cinema. now I get to enjoy the whole glorious experience, in stomah churning surround sound, with a massive screen!

That;s not all that canged... Ghostbusters got saucy! Perhaps I was more naieve then, perhaps i only saw cut versions or perhaps I just never noticed it! Either way it's even funnier than I remember...and really quite close to the mark!

Well the adverts are nearly over (Yes every experience has a downside!) so i;m gonna get back to the film!

Christmas Is Coming!

Our Christmas lists are ready! There's one for me and one for me and Di together. I'll grant you some of the items are a little steep, but you have to put them down, don't ya???

They're both on Amazon under my name.

And the point of this post? Well, firstly in the vain hope someone would buy the stuff on it... Secondly because in the same visit that I made those lists I also started my Christmas shopping! That's record breaking early for me!

The Amazing £55 Sandwich

So you’re visiting your parents and you decide to get lunch. You’re already in The Town, having had a rather fussy hair cut so think of the best take-away eateries to purchase said lunch. On a whim you decide that Subway would be good. They do good subs, it’s different and hey there’s no queue. Herein lies the mistake! The mistake is multi-faceted! On the one hand Subway is a wonderful personal eating experience – you can choose the bread, the fillings the salad, the ancillaries and even the sauce. You can salivate as each item is carefully placed in the sub. You can glee with delight when the microwave dings (If you’re having a hot filling of course) and watch on wistfully as the ingredients are carefully placed in the roll. All of this adds up to a wonderful experience. By the time you have done you can’t wait to eat that sub! You practically throw the fiver (If you got the cheap one!) at the server so that you can dash and enjoy that lunch! All of this is of course delayed if you are with a friend (or wife) and have to wait for theirs before you can pay… now imagine the shock when you realise there are another two rolls to purchase. You have to choose the bread, decide on a filling, take a guess at the salad and finally choose the sauce. All this while your beautiful sub is getting cold and lonely!

Imagine the further horror when your server is the new girl. In fact she’s the foreign new girl, who’s English is not fantastic. Luckily her trainer can communicate with her perfectly… however she has a similar problem communicating with you!

So here is my advice – Save Subway for lunch when everyone can choose their own ingredients!

And one final piece of advice…. Whatever you do, do not wait until you are returning to the multi-storey car park to realise that neither you, nor your wife bought a pay and display ticket! If you do, be under no pretence that the nice ticket inspector will realise you are stressed out parents who made a mistake. You will have a ticket.

(Note: This post was not at all inspired by Jon’s Chicken Sandwich.)

The only down side is that I needed to year the tights for the ride... Not looking so good for a train commuter though!

Tights, Cycling shorts and Vanity

So yes I have bought some tights. Well strictly speaking they’re leg warmers, but to all intents and purposes they are tights. You may scoff, you may laugh, you may even wonder why the shorts have a funny pad thing in the crotch, but I am happy! The tights, sorry leg warmers, and shorts are both extremely comfortable. They keep me warm while I’m cycling and the pad keeps my bottom comfortable. All in all I think a very good investment!

As to a picture??? Well I couldn’t bring myself to take a picture, it just seems too vain!

How Not To Get To Haverhill

Going to haverhill ot see te in-laws was a very good idea... Going via the A10 was not! The route is in the picture; A10, B1368, B1038, A1052, A1307, Haverhill. Sounds like a nice route to me. There's a small chance I may have taken a wrong turn at the B1038, but didn't realise. Anyway we got there in the end and are currently enojying a relaxed breakfast, having had a good nights sleep!

Also, I love unsecured wireless connections!

Microsoft Can't, But I Can!

So it’s a Group Policy problem. Basically some users can’t access the internet. Some research shows me that there is a Microsoft Hotfix available. When I finally get through to Microsoft they send me the hotfix (Ref 88245) and I ask whether there is a way to roll it out automatically…. “Not at this stage” comes the reply. Well I’m not going to 150 machines to do it manually I thinks, and I set about resolving the problem another way…

2hrs later and several restarts the problem is solved! So Bill [Gates] my phones on… give us a ring!

What No Space???

It's a normal day at work today, but I thought perhaps I should do a check on my servers' health. (Where should the apostrophe go there? Many servers) My AV server says no disk space... I mean actually 0kb left on the system drive. Ouch! It appears that the Sophos program is creating Gb of logs, all the time. One second 300Mb, one second 1.5Gb. Most annoying. I have a simple solution though. Lets uninstall the the Sophos stuff from C and put it on D.

All going well until I get the following error: Cannot uninstall from drive C.
Disk space required -1200kb, actual space on disk 0Kb.

Yes that's right, negative disk space required, but there's not enough available... Argh!

I love computers though.

The Bike's Back

On Friday night I started playing football with the lads again. I haven't played for several months, I also haven't played squash since July or taken part in anything remotely resembling a sport! Needless to say Friday's football was hard work! (Obviously I scored two goals, but natural talent is no replacement for fitness). I decided that it's time to get my bike out again. And here she is!

I haven't cycled since we moved house in April, but you never forget how to ride a bike do you??? The 8 miles to work took approximately 40 mins, which isn't bad, but can easily be improved. I need to invest in some new gloves and the bike's making a couple of noises, but I rather enjoyed the ride this morning. It;s good to have the old girl out again. I just hope I feel the same when it comes to home time!

PS Just in case... Are the trains still up the swanny???

Busy Day

Busy Day
Originally uploaded by Jasonthejoker.
Sat 15/10/2005 16:35 So it's been a busy day in the life of Joni today. It's mum's birthday so Dad's been working extra hard to keep her happy. I just hope they don't forget that I'm the boss around here!

This morning started with a bumper post opening session. It's odd - Dad normally moans about the amount of money he has to pay for the bills that arrive in the post every day... Today there was money coming out of the post! Once all the post was done Dad brought their food to mum in bed... I thought it was just me that got to eat in there! Once they'd done all that it was off to buy clothes for mum... They didn't even go near a mothercare!

Once we'd had lunch Dad took mum to a shop up the road and we went to visit Sue and James... Their house sounds like ours did before I was born - lots of banging! I got a bit hungry while I was there, Dad got all flustered though. He thought I wanted changing, then he thought I had wind, then he took for me for a walk... Thank goodness mum finished when she did and told him what I needed! Don't know what mum did in there, but she was all red when she came out!

Finally we went into Enfield Town. Mum sat in a big chair and had her hair fixed while Dad and I went for a coffee. Dad seemed to like that. I don't what happening now, but mum's hair looks great and they both sound like they're waiting to go out. Nan and Grandad are coming soon though, so that will be nice.

I wonder how many Birthdays mum has???

Originally uploaded by Jasonthejoker.
Fri 14/10/2005 19:19 14102005 So this is Joni's first smile... It may not mean much to most, but we think it's wonderful!

The André's on Parkinson

So I had to text Virgin Radio this morning. They were talking about tonight’s telly and specifically that The André’s (Peter and Jordan) are on Parkinson tonight… We’re the André’s (Jason and Diana)… Why aren’t we on Parkinson???

I’ll expect his call imminently!

So What's So Clever???

So why is this all so clever then??? Well firstly it’s not me being clever, I don’t have the time for that anymore! This time it’s me using a bunch of other people’s clever stuff. The main blog site http://www.blogger.com is just one of a whole host of blog sites. What’s clever is that you can post to this one directly for http://www.flickr.com. Ok so what’s so clever about that??? Well you can post direct to Flickr from Nokia LifeBlog, which runs on my new Nokia 6680. So I can seamlessly take a photo on my phone, add a note and send to the web. All while I’m out… Now you got to think that’s clever haven’t you???

To do this yourself you’ll need an account on www.blogger.com, one on www.flickr.com and a copy of LifeBlog on your phone (Or PC, but it’s a bit pointless on your PC when you can just visit above mentioned sites). Once set up you need to set up the flickr account to post to your blog. Details can be found here. Then use this page to set up your LifeBlog phone to send to flickr and your blog.

And that’s that!

Joni Has Arrived

I have a small admission to make... This post occurs retrospectively. It's dated to coincide with the birth of Joni Lilly André. She arrived at 1:45am on September 18th 2005. The birth story is long... but we'll soon forget that!
